Running Welcomes Discipline

Running | The Will To Succeed

 Why does running welcome discipline?

Challenges a runner may face is when they come face to face with their body giving out and all they have left is their mentality and the courage within to not give up in times of opposition.

That is when running welcomes discipline

A runner must resist the temptation to quit and persist, even when times get tough.

"As you run, it tells you to stop but the mind must be strong. You always go too far for your body. It is not age; it is not diet. It is the will to succeed." - Todd Dwyane Williams ( U.S. Olympic Long-distance Runner)

The will to succeed is encompassed with discipline. Any person who is interested in small self-victories should consider running a local 5k. If you really want to challenge yourself and discipline your mind to continue even when the going gets tough, the tough get going - try setting a goal to run all types of different races (Beginner or not).

Start with the 5k 10k Half-Marathon → and then the Marathon.

Push yourself to do things you never thought you could accomplish. These small self-victories can lead your life in a very humbling and rewarding path that can help you succeed in not only fitness, health, and wellness, but in every single aspect of your life.

What also makes running local races so rewarding is the communal surroundings. You have strangers cheering for you and vice versa. Often times, these local races go to charity as well. It's basically a win and a no-brainer.

The point is to get out of your comfort zone and learn something new about yourself. When you run, you will face times of adversity and all that is left is your feet, the pavement, and your head. This is when you will have the opportunity to learn what real self-discipline is.

Remember, it is the will to succeed.
